PRC BOARD EXAM TIPS

Guess who just passed the board exam for psychometrician 2015!! Me! :D It was a very nerve-wracking, anxiety-provoking, death-defying experience for me and to be able to give back to those who shall also take the board exam, perhaps in the next years, I shall share with you some of my made up tips. This is in Filipino because I kinda did this in a hurry while at work.

TIPS:  

**  LIST ALL YOUR WORRIES AND ANXIETIES the night before the exam. Hindi man nito maeliminate lahaaaaat ng anxieties mo, malelessen naman niya ito. Parang prep mo ito sa emotion at mind mo na kelangan magready na siya for whatever is coming tomorrow.

**  KNOW the exact location and the way to your school assignment. Para di ka na maligaw sa araw na iyon. Tinatanong pa ba yan?? Mabuti ng handa no? :D

**  Hindi basehan ang pagiging topnotcher sa review center kung papasa ka or magtatop sa ka sa boards. Hindi naman lahat ng nirereview doon ay lumalabas sa exam. (From my experience, NEVER talaga akong pumasa sa exams ko sa review. Mock Board ko nga 57 lang eh. Ang layo-layo sa 75 na goal ko. Pero nagulat ako sa rating ko sa board exam: 78% :”>; Top 10 ay 82.2. Mejo malayo pa, pero atleast diba, maipagmamalaki na)

**  KEEP YOUR COOL AND DON’T COMPLAIN if you’re assigned to a cheapipay school with no airconditioning unit hence take it as a challenge that even if the testing area is not as comfy as what you would expect, nakapasa ka pa rin. Isa kang huwarang test taker! Naprove mo na hindi kelangan ng comfortable testing area para pumasa! Aja! (Sa gym ng St. Jude College-Dimasalang ako napapunta nung exam. Mainit sa gym, may aircon pero dahil madami kami, halos wala na kong lamig na naramdaman. Yung tipong tagaktak na yung pawis ko habang nagiisip ng best research method na pwedeng gamitin)

**  Before you pass your paper, count your SURE answers and try to estimate your rating on that particular subject. Wag magworry if mababa ang sure answers mo. Madami pa namang items na hindi ka sure na maaaring maging tama pala.

**  AVOID ERASURES on your answer sheet. Ilayo ang answer sheet sa test questionnaire. Maaaring madumihan ito or bumakat ang kahit na anong markings na magiging cause ng pagka-invalid ng answer sheet mo. (I suggest na mag-answer muna sa questionnaire kahit babuyin niyo pa iyon, for shredding naman na iyon pagkatapos ng exam)

**  COMPLETE ANSWERING FIRST YOUR QUESTIONNAIRE BEFORE TRANSFERRING YOUR ANSWER TO THE ANSWER SHEET. Magbibigay naman ng announcement yung proctor mo 1 hour before the time’s up na magstart na kayo ng transfer sa answer sheet to avoid hassle pag malapit na matapos ang time kasi mas matagal kaya mag-shade kaysa mag-answer. Promise!! :D

**  Kapag natapos ka na mag-answer, wag mo na antayin yung iba na magpasa. Instead mauna ka na sa kanila. Pede naman na magpass agad after mo masagutan lahat. It doesn’t matter kung 30 mins mo lang natapos yung exam. Just remember: DO NOT LOOK BACK.  What’s done is done and everything is up to Him if papasa ka or not.

**  Two sets of questionnaires ang ginagawa ng PRC so always remember to CHECK if set A or B ang test papers mo and SHADE the set agad sa answer sheet upon receiving the test papers.

**  Do not forget to get your answer sheet from the back. Para kasing booklet yung answer sheets ng PRC. Yung harap, PDS (personnel data sheet) tapos puro answer sheets na. Then everytime magsstart ang exam, papapilasin sa inyo iyong isang answer sheet galing dun sa booklet na yon. Always remember lang na sa likod kayo laging kukuha/pupunit ng answer sheet. Binibilin din naman to ng proctor niyo.

**  BE CAUTIOUS ALWAYS. Dapat sure na sure ka sa number na shineshade mo kasi delikado ka pag nag-attempt ka pa na mag-erase sa answer sheet. Mas sensitive pa sya sa feelings ng mga babae kaya wag mo syang susubukan or magsisisi ka. Always follow the proctor’s instruction. Wag magmarunong.

**  DO NOT TALK ABOUT THE TEST AFTER TAKING IT. It’s sort of like a taboo to talk about it after taking it. Parang lyrics lang ng teenage dream ni Katy Perry, “no regrets, just love.” Move on, move on din pag may time. Tapos na yun eh, bakit mo pa kailangan balikan? Diba nga nagusap na tayo kanina? Don’t look back. Sa exam, hindi na kailangan ng closure. Hindi na rin kailangan ng “flooding” (the act of talking and talking about the sensitive subject for one to get immune to it and not be sensitive about it anymore) dahil kapag napass mo na test papers mo, closure na iyon agad.

**  TREAT YOURSELVES after the board exam. Ilang buwan kang nagpakasasa, nagpakadalubhasa at naging close ng books, reviewers, etc at kung anu-ano pang paraphernalia mo before the exam. Magbreak na kayo at kalimutan na sila agad-agad.

**  During those moments na you are treating yourself, DO NOT TALK ABOUT THE EXAM. Saglit mo lang naman ittreat ang sarili mo, ienjoy mo na. Madaming araw pa ang lilipas para magworry sa results.

**  Wag matakot pag nanaginip ka na pumasa ka (Ayaw mo ba nun? Pasado ka na nga eh) Wag ka din matakot if nanaginip ka na hindi ka pumasa (mga 3x ata ako nanaginip na hindi ako pumasa) 

**  Kung panaginip yung nauna, eto thoughts to. Wag matakot if nagkakaron kayo ng thoughts na hindi kayo papasa. Normal yan sa lahat.

**  WAG BIBILI NG MARKER NA SINASABI NG MGA LECHUGAS NA VENDOR SA LABAS NG SCHOOLS NA KAILANGAN “DAW.” Madaming bumili na students nung araw ng exam, e wala namang sinabi iyong PRC or iyong NOA na magdala nun. Panulat “daw” kasi iyon sa brown envelope, wag mag-alala, ballpen (hindi sign pen, fountain pen, gtech, etc…) ang ginagamit panulat sa envelope. 20 pesos din yung marker. Pamasahe din yun.

**  Okay lang maghabol at magcram ng review a day before the exam pero WAG NA MAGREVIEW SA ARAW NG EXAM. Isstress mo lang sarili mo. Wag na rin magdala ng reviewers sa araw na iyon. Kung 2 days ang exam mo, pwede ka pa rin naman magreview sa gabi ng day 1 ng subjects mo para sa day 2. Wag lang intense kasi baka mabigla utak mo.

**  Wag matakot pag hindi mo alam ang answer sa 1st item ng unang subject. Madami pa namang item na pwedeng maitama. Kalma lang!

**  Before the last subject, PRC will let you read a letter from them (addressed to all) na you have the option to DONATE your used pencils, erasers, and ballpens for the less fortunate. They give it to the kids naman every December or every June kasi PRC week. Some passers say na, pwede rin naman na BREAK YOUR PENCILS nalang para daw hindi ka umulit. (I donated mine instead, atleast alam mong may makakagamit pa ng mga bagay na iyon. Pumasa ka na, nakatulong ka pa. I know naman somebody na passer din na nagdonate and nagbreak ng pencil, so ginawa nya both. Wala namang masama maniwala)

ü  Wag muna magpapogi at magpaganda before the exam. I-save yan AFTER the results in preparation for the oath taking.

**  Kung kaya mo na mag-let go, ITAPON / SUNUGIN / PUNITIN / IPAMBALOT SA NAPKIN ang reviewers mo na dinikit mo sa pader.

**  Magdasal. Magdasal. Magdasal.

**  Lastly, basahin at isapuso ito:

         “Your desire to pass must be greater than your fear to fail.”

Sa mga makakabasa/nagbabasa/nakakabasa ng tips na to, sana matulungan ko kayo sa inyong nalalapit na “judgment day.” Sigurado akong may mga nakalimutan pa akong mga tips para sa board exam pero sana nasatisfy ko ang mga naglalarong questions at anxieties dyan sa utak nyo. My prayers are with you. Minsan din akong nagdaan sa ganyang pagkakataon at hindi mapapantayan ng kahit na anong kaba ko sa exam na iyan ang galak ko nung nakita kong pumasa ako. Everything will be worth it in the end.
